You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Lead the development of a diverse and innovative range of food products using natural ingredients, focusing on minimum processing, maximum flavour, and nutritional integrity.
- Create new and innovative food products, from concept through to launch, experimenting with different nutrition, flavours, and food trends.
- Develop balanced and delicious menus that align with company messaging and values.
- Utilise exciting ingredients in line with current health trends, while maximising the use of locally grown produce.
- Prepare samples and deliver professional product panels for submissions and benchmarking.
- Monitor culinary and nutritional trends, as well as kitchen technological advances, and apply these to new product development.
- Offer innovative concepts that are not limited by trends, where there is nutritional and commercial justification.
- Contribute to research for seasonal trend reports and ad-hoc projects.
- Organise and prepare product samples for dispatch to customers, tracking deliveries and issuing dispatch documents.
- Support the presentation of products in feasibility meetings and share production details.
- Ensure accurate recording of recipes and methods for continuity in flavours and quality.
- Stay updated with industry trends and present culinary ideas to different audiences.
- Develop skills, network, and expertise through external training and supplier visits.
What's required?
- Proven experience as a Development Chef with a passion for creating innovative food products.
- Strong understanding of flavour combinations, nutritional requirements, and food trends.
- Ability to work with locally sourced ingredients while aligning with current health trends.
- Creative and proactive approach to product development, with a focus on balancing nutrition, flavour, and commercial viability.
- Excellent communication skills for presenting concepts and working with internal teams and external clients.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and track product samples and deliveries.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining consistency in recipes and product quality.
- A genuine interest in staying updated on industry developments, trends, and emerging technologies.
- Willingness to further develop skills through external training and supplier visits.
