As a Technical Administrator, you'll play a key role in maintaining supplier compliance and upholding the highest standards in food safety and sustainability. You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Deliver the technical strategy for supplier management, raising standards in quality, sustainability, responsible sourcing, and food safety culture.
- Support a proportionate, risk-based approach to supplier assurance in line with tiering systems.
- Oversee the onboarding of new suppliers, ensuring all requirements are met in collaboration with purchasing, supply chain, and technical teams.
- Manage and resolve supplier complaints and non-conformances, ensuring effective close-out, escalation, and trend analysis.
- Support incident management, including communication of product recalls and supplier root cause analysis.
- Ensure product specifications are maintained and compliant with required standards.
- Develop and manage technical relationships with key suppliers, identifying risks and driving high food safety and compliance standards.
- Maintain and analyse supplier performance data, identifying trends and developing corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance and support on supplier performance management to procurement and operational teams.
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of food safety and quality management systems, ensuring alignment with company and functional requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of VACCP and TACCP programs within the supply chain.
- Support administration and compliance with third-party standards and certifications such as MSC, Red Tractor, Soil Association, and RSPCA.
- Ensure supplier documentation and data are accurately maintained within relevant supply chain systems.
- Organise and analyse technical data to identify insights, emerging risks, and areas for continuous improvement.
- Monitor industry developments, sharing relevant insights and best practices.
What's required?
- Degree in food science or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year’s experience in food technical and QA roles in the food industry.
- Supplier management and technical development experience and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent data analysis and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of food legislation including food labelling standards.
- HACCP Level 3 desired.
- Experience with GFSI, SALSA and other industry standards.
- Understanding of risk-based food safety approaches and creativity to seek solutions to reduce complexity and manage risk.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and web-based systems.
- A result-focused approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence key stakeholders.
- Highly organised, great attention to detail and ability to work under own initiative.
- Proactively collaborate with other stakeholders within the business with commercial awareness.
- Possess excellent written and verbal skills.
- Decision-maker with the ability to exercise judgment and take responsibility for the outcome of actions and decisions.
