You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Act as a role model and advocate for quality and continuous improvement.
  • Support the delivery of the manufacturing strategy, focusing on the quality of both inputs and outputs.
  • Co-ordinate the internal audit calendar, including training, audit preparation, monitoring, and reporting to identify major vs. minor non-conformances, determining appropriate actions.
  • Lead and manage external audits related to quality.
  • Ensure all activities comply with relevant site standards (BRC, ISO9001, Organic, etc.) and align with the Integrated Management System.
  • Drive compliance with all technical and HACCP requirements to maintain product quality and food safety across manufacturing (e.g., frozen stock, TWIs, spec approvals).
  • Lead the resolution of consumer complaints, liaising with external bodies as required.
  • Effectively manage decant operations, working with other departments to ensure accurate recording and reworking of returns.
  • Lead the resolution of quality defects in materials, liaising with internal departments and external bodies as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of customer requirements within the IMS and site systems, ensuring these are scheduled and monitored (e.g., whistleblowing, recalls, certification dates, spec approvals).
  • Manage all customer portal interactions, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness, and liaise with the relevant business managers where appropriate.
  • Issue certificates of analysis, including ingredient percentages and methods of manufacture.
  • Lead artwork approval activities, ensuring accurate calculation of nutritional information and compliance with all legal requirements.
  • Undertake root cause analysis (RCA) to drive sustainable improvements, particularly for complaints.
  • Support capital investment projects that contribute to long-term quality improvements.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, working collaboratively with other departments to drive efficiency and quality enhancements.

What's required?

Essential

  • Degree educated.
  • Thorough and observant with a strong eye for detail.
  • Excellent knowledge of the end-to-end production process.
  • In-depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards.
  • Confident in the use of IT systems.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis.

Desirable

  • Experience in designing remediation plans to address manufacturing and process quality issues.
  • Formal Quality Management qualification such as ASQ or CQI.
