You will be responsible for, but not limited to:
- Maintain, drive, supervise and implement robust technical standards, systems and processes.
- Directing and managing the company’s quality management system to ensure compliance with standards such as BRCGS Storage and Distribution.
- Manage and audit the HACCP process.
- Represent the business on all technical-related matters.
- Responsible for correspondence and approval of other third-party accreditations (Organic Audits, NON-GMO for USA).
- Guiding and advising the senior management team to ensure Food Safety and Quality compliance in accordance with regulations, customer and business requirements.
- Responsible for advising the business with regulatory updates and requirement for import and export.
- Provide guidance and support to Senior Management ensuring Food Safety and product labelling compliance in accordance with regulations, customer and business requirements.
- To promote and monitor the Quality standards of the company as required by company procedures and legislation.
- Technical lead with strong working relationship with global suppliers (particularly Asia and Far East) and customers.
- Managing and maintaining supplier approval process and database. Oversee management of suppliers. Ensure all safety, legal and quality information is captured and assessed within the required timeframes, kept up to date and risks are managed. To carry out internal and external audits with third party manufacturers where necessary.
- Gatekeeper of NPD/EPD Projects for own-brand and private label projects.
- Responsible for the technical elements of NPD/EPD Projects ensuring gate process is followed, testing is complete for nutritional information and any technical issues are foreseen and resolved prior to launch.
- Proficient in navigating and completing retailer-interfaced systems for technical sign off(e.g. Ashbury Click APP, Evolve, Waitrose Engage).
- Responsible for Technical Sign Off and supports Technical Team in approving product specifications and artwork accurately and on time. Sign off will be a result of complying with brand standards, labelling regulations and always has the customer at the forefront.
- Key stakeholder in artwork approval process for own-brand, private label and also ensuring managed brand products are relabelled to comply with UK standards.
- Ensuring the upload of images and information on platforms such as Brandbank and Erudus
- Support Warehouse Department in the housekeeping of the warehouse, offices and external site.
- Responsible for the upkeeping of equipment, calibrations and external inspections for the Warehouse site.
- Provide training to relevant staff to ensuring understand of food safety, quality and legality of goods handled.
- Manage, monitor and improve the company’s pest control management, working closely with an appointed third party.
- Be responsible in supporting and producing documentation for Port Health and Customs Clearance.
- Collate and interpret packaging data to report on waste packaging, EPR and plastic tax submissions.
- Responsible for covering health and safety matters, managing training and processes for Fire Marshal’s and First Aiders and carrying out fire risk assessments.
- Analyse and interpret trends in customer complaints. Support suppliers with investigations, identify root cause analysis and put in corrective and preventative measures.
- Efficiently handle and deal with customer/EHO complaints. To document and respond to all product complaints and manage to a positive outcome.
- Accountable for recall/withdrawal procedure and lead Crisis Management Team
What's required?
- Education within a Food Science/Nutrition background
- BRC Site Training
- Experience of managing and implementing BRC
- Minimum HACCP Level 3 Qualification
- UK labelling compliance (including product and nutrition claims)
- Knowledge of UK Retailer Technical and Ethical Requirements#
- Familiar with working with retailer specification and artwork systems
- Auditing experience
- High level of IT fluency (Microsoft Office, Google Sheets, One Drive)
- Excellent communication skills verbal and written
- Key attention to detail – diligent
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- People person to motivate department and wider team
