You will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Ensure compliance with all necessary accreditations, legislation, customer codes of practice, and relevant industry standards.
  • Lead and organise site audits by customers, regulatory bodies, and government agencies, including internal audits, addressing any corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage production technical requirements, ensuring that products meet specifications and comply with customer, legislative, and industry standards.
  • Log, investigate, and resolve customer complaints, performing trend analysis to identify recurring issues and implementing corrective action strategies.
  • Oversee regular product shelf life and surveillance testing, including organoleptic and microbiological testing, and manage product trials.
  • Ensure all suppliers are evaluated and brought on board in a controlled manner, with formal audits for both food and non-food items.
  • Manage raw material and product specifications, as well as related databases.
  • Control and review the company’s Quality Management Systems, including all work processes, HACCP/Allergen management, and accreditation requirements.
  • Manage the site quality team, ensuring effective performance and compliance with relevant standards.
  • Establish policies for due diligence, product safety, and integrity, ensuring compliance both internally and with suppliers.
  • Oversee Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and hygiene quality within the production environment, including micro-testing and cleaning efficacy audits.
  • Manage site pest control to ensure a safe and hygienic production environment.
  • Drive continuous technical improvement initiatives across operations.

What's required?

Experience

  • Previous high-risk product experience is essential, ideally covering sauces, dressings, cooked rice and pasta, ice creams, sorbets, gelato, mousses, and pickles.
  • A full, clean Driver's Licence is required.
  • A Food Science/Technology degree or equivalent qualification is necessary.
  • Minimum HACCP Level 3 certification is required, with Lead Auditor qualification preferred.
  • This role is suitable for a Technical Manager or Quality Manager with a few years’ experience looking to advance their career in food production.
  • Candidates must have demonstrable industry experience and knowledge of all relevant food safety legislation, Quality Management Systems (QMS), BRC standards, and audits.
  • Strong communication skills are key, as the role is customer-focused.
  • Organisational and effective project management skills are required.
  • Experience with Trading Standards, Environmental Health, and high-care/high-risk food premises is essential.
